RCBOE Policy C. 1. 3 B Bullying, Harassment, and Intimidation
The Raleigh County Board of Education is committed to protecting its students from bullying, harassment, or intimidation for any reason and of any type. Bullying, harassment, or intimidation will not be tolerated and shall be just cause for disciplinary action.
What is bullying, harassment, or intimidation?
• Any intentional gesture, or any intentional electronic, written, verbal or physical act, communication, transmission, or threat that: • • Is sufficiently severe, persistent, pervasive Systemically and chronically inflicts physical hurt or psychological distress Disrupts or interferes with the operation of school
Some Examples of bullying, harassment, or intimidation Unwanted teasing Rumor spreading Threats Cyber bullying • Physical Violence • Public humiliation
Students are prohibited from bullying other students: • During School • During any school sponsored program • On the bus or at the bus stop • Through the use of any electronic device while at school, on the bus, or at the bus stop • Outside of school hours, if the intended threats are to be carried out during school, at a school sponsored program, or significantly impairs a student’s ability to receive an education
Students may and are strongly encouraged to report bullying complaints to faculty or staff. All faculty and staff are required and must report, in writing, any allegations of bullying violations involving students to the principal.
