Childhood. . . Born in Salem Oregon He grew up in a loving family that never abused him. At age 11 he began to develop anger issues, his parents took him to a therapist that couldn't help him out. He would get into fights at school. He started having sexual behaviors and he exposed him self to grown women. In high school his football coaches covered up a crime he committed so he wouldn't be kicked off the football team.
Background… In the 1974 NFL draft he made it on the Green Bay Packers. That same year he committed multiple crimes such as vandalism and assault and wasn't kicked off the team. He was later cut after one season because he constantly got arrested which made the team look bad. He left the team with no money and no job, so he started robbing.
Killer Profile… Yes he fit the killer profile. v He is a white male, born and raised in the United States. v He started killing at the age of 25. He developed anger issues and had sexual fantasies at a young age.
Phases… Trolling- he dealt with anyone who was in his way while robbing. He always sexually assaulted females that he robbed. Wooing- he didn’t lure anyone in, he killed on the spot Capture- he didn’t capture anyone, he would rob, then most likely kill Murder phase- either stabbed them in the neck or shot them in the face Totem- he would search the dead bodies for anything of value and would leave the bodies right where he killed the victim Depression- None was shown He was called the I-5 Bandit because all of his crimes were committed along the interstate 5 corridor.
Death toll…Stable Killer…Disorganized killer Its estimated that he killed between 18 -44 people ------------------------------------------------------------ He’s a stable killer because he lived and committed all of his crimes in Oregon, he didn’t leave the Eugene Oregon area ------------------------------------------------------------ He was disorganized because he killed who ever was in his way and didn’t target specific people. Also because he didn’t hide the body's, only moved them to the side of the rode.
Conviction… After police suspicion, Woodsfield's apartment was searched and evidence was found that linked him to the murders and robberies. He was convicted on June 26 1981 and is still saving a sentence of life plus 90 years.
Interesting fact… While in jail, he was married 3 times and divorced twice
