Introduction to Ramadan • Is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, and is observed by Muslims worldwide as a month of fasting (Sawm). • Fasting is one of the Five Pillars of Islam. • The month lasts 29– 30 days based on the visual sightings of the crescent moon.
• Ramadan in 2019 will start on Monday, the 6 th of May (6/5/2019) and will continue for 30 days until Tuesday, the 4 th of June. Note that in the Muslim calendar, a holiday begins on the sunset of the previous day, so observing Muslims will celebrate Ramadan on the sunset of Sunday, the 5 th of May.
The most interesting part of Ramadan • There a lot of interesting parts in Ramadan Such as : • Laylat Al-Qadr • Gargee’an • The first week because there a lot of family reunions But the most interesting one is the 10 days
Do all Muslims fast? • Technically, all “healthy” Muslims are expected to fast. • but there a number of exceptions. Children, elderly people and pregnant.
