His work—initially realistic—became more fluid and poetic, and is now regarded as a predecessor to Impressionism. Turner died on December 19, 1851, in Cheyne Walk, Chelsea, London, England.

W. M Turner and the most significant episodes of his life. It isn’t a film for those who like action, because it is too slow and it long; in fact the plot doesn’t capture the attention of the viewer all the time. The director’s aim was to reproduce the typical Romantic landscape with particular emphasis on the places that inspired the artist.

The use of light is meaningful to the audience to be plunged into Turner’s realism. It’s function in the various scenes is creating a dream atmosphere as well as surrealistic sensations. The actors were appropriately chosen and Timothy Spall was superb is his representation. In our opinion this isn’t an entertainment film: this movie is didactic and useful to learn something of Turner and his works.
