Relations between Správa železniční dopravní cesty, státní organizace (SŽDC) and DB Netz are regulated by the Agreement on Connecting Infrastructures (Vertrag über die Verknüpfung der Infrastruktur), dated 6 February 2008. The following railway network connections are currently mentioned in the Agreement (14 railway lines): • • Hrádek nad Nisou – Zittau Varnsdorf – Großschönau Varnsdorf – Seifhennersdorf Rumburk – Ebersbach Dolní Poustevna – Sebnitz Děčín – Bad Schandau Vejprty – Cranzahl Berlin, 15 April 2016 • • Potůčky – Johanngeorgenstadt Kraslice – Klingenthal Vojtanov – Bad Brambach Aš – Selb Plößberg Cheb – Schirnding Česká Kubice – Furth im Wald Železná Ruda Alžbětín – Bayerisch Eisenstein 3
Border Crossings Freight transport is currently being operated on railway crossings • Česká Kubice, Cheb, Vojtanov, Děčín. Passenger transport is being operated on railway crossings: • Česká Kubice, Cheb, Aš, Vojtanov, • Kraslice, Potůčky, Děčín, Dolní Poustevna, • Varnsdorf in direction Großschönau, • Hrádek nad Nisou. Passenger trains in categories through trains and higher (fast trains, Euro-City, Euro. Night) are operated only on railway crossings: • Česká Kubice, Cheb, Děčín. Berlin, 15 April 2016 4
Connections - Examples of the fastest connections by passenger trains: Praha hlavní nádraží – Berlin Hbf. 4: 31 hrs Praha hlavní nádraží – München Hbf. 6: 00 hrs (direct train). Praha hlavní nádraží – München Hbf. 4: 52 hrs (bus/train route Nürnberg) Praha hlavní nádraží – München ZOB 4: 38 hrs (bus, Hackerbrücke) Berlin, 15 April 2016 5
Development in the Czech Republic 7 June 1995: Agreement between the Ministry of Transport of the Czech Republic and the Federal Ministry of Transport of the Federal Republic of Germany on cooperation in further development of the railway connection Praha – Nürnberg. On the Czech territory, the railway line Beroun (outside) – Ejpovice and Plzeň Jižní předměstí – Cheb State border has been reconstructed since 1995. The line section Ejpovice – Plzeň should be completed in half 2018. Berlin, 15 April 2016 6
New Line Parameters Both lines leading from Nürnberg to the Czech State Border • through Marktredwitz, • Cheb or Furth im Wald – Česká Kubice, are modified for a speed up to 160 kmph with use of tilting vehicles. Unfortunately lines have not been electrified. Berlin, 15 April 2016 7
New Line Design With a perspective of modernizing the line Plzeň – Schwandorf – Regensburg (partial double-tracking, electrification, alignment of curves with low radiuses) only in many years, the option of using the line passing through Plattling – Bayerisch Eisenstein – Klatovy – Plzeň for a faster railway connection between Munich and Prague is being considered. In theory, the journey time for a train consisting of two DB train-sets Series 612 (without tilting on the DB network) takes 181 minutes on the line section München – Bayerisch Eisenstein and 172 minutes on the line section Železná Ruda – Praha (with tilting and using speeds up to 160 kmph). Berlin, 15 April 2016 8
Decreasing of Journey Times DB Netz and SŽDC will verify the possibility of decreasing of journey times by modifying the route (waiting for trains‘ crossing on single-track lines) on the one hand by increasing line speed in sections without crossings on the other hand. Finishing the Technical and economical study for modernizing the line Plzeň – Česká Kubice is a priority, of course. Berlin, 15 April 2016 9
