You must not attend this meeting before your scheduled session, so please ensure that you check your timings. Once you are successfully in the dashboard, you must close your UBMS email.

You will then be able to click on it and enter that station. This will connect with Teams and take you to the designated station.
5) During the station Once you have entered the station, the assessor will greet you and will advise you that you will have 1 minute to read the station instructions that will be shared on screen via powerpoint and will commence this 1 minute when they show you the instructions. During this 1 minute you may take notes. After the 1 minute reading time, you will be advised that the station is starting and the assessor will commence the 20 minutes assessment time. The assessor will manage the timings. After the 20 minutes is complete, or if you have already finished, the assessor will advise that the station is complete and request that you leave the call. You will then have an approximate wait time of 5 minutes whilst the assessors mark your performance. REMINDER: the stations will be the 20 minutes, 2 -part, stations. You complete Part A in the first 10 minutes and then Part B in the second 10 minutes. Once you commence Part B, you will not be permitted to revisit Part A.
6) OSCE content/assessors You will not be asked to complete any kind of physical examination. However, anything else taught in the curriculum up to the point of the OSCE exam could arise. If the station requires you to speak to a patient, the patient will be simulated by a professional actor. Please speak to them as you would a patient, noting their ‘name’ and details. Ensure you talk through everything you do. If you need to see the student instructions again, for clarification, do not hesitate to request that they be shown to you again. The assessor will be happy to do so. The assessors have each been trained to remain neutral at all times. They have also been instructed to not provide you any feedback in respect of your performance.
7) After my OSCE session You will be offered the opportunity to provide feedback, via your dashboard You are not required to be quarantined……. . Communicate station content to any other student ……. HOWEVER…… Discuss the exam with anyone until after the final session has concluded ……. . despite this being a formative exam, you are subject to exam regulations and should not…. . Cheating of any kind will be taken very seriously.
The station marking is based on 4 domains Communication skills Clinical knowledge and problem solving Practical skills Professionalism 8) Marking/Results The standard will be same as the face to face OSCE BUT… NO pass/fail Feedback based on performance. This will be delivered to your personal tutors within 2 weeks of the exam.
9) What do I do if/can I? My tech fails? My device runs out of power? We will do everything we can to get you back and, if needs be, restart the station. The assessor will evaluate where in the station you were when the glitch occurred, and use this to judge where to pick up from. Our aim will always be to facilitate you completing the station, where possible. Please ensure you connect your device at all times to a reliable power source. Teams/video calling can really ‘eat’ battery life, so we would not recommend relying on battery life, without back up. Can I go to the toilet during the OSCE? Yes you can Between stations only. Advise the assessor before you leave that station , that you are about to go for a toilet visit. This means the assessor can inform the invigilator for that circuit that a student is not ready to start the next station. There will only be a 5 minute gap between stations, so you need to be quick!
1. 10) Emergency contacts 2. SPEAK TO YOUR ASSESSOR IMMEDIATELY – THEY WILL ESCALATE TO EITHER MYSELF OR AN INVIGILATOR RETURN TO THE STUDENT BRIEFING MEETING VIA YOUR DASHBOARD – AND SPEAK TO THE INVIGILATOR BY RAISING YOUR HAND

Submitted Questions • Since we won’t be asked to perform a physical examinations, will we be asked to explain the procedure of any of the physical examinations taught? No, you will not need to explain any physical procedures specifically. • Do I prepare a doll next to me or pretend that the examiner is my patient? You will not need to do this, there are no physical examinations. If you need to speak to a patient, for example, during a history take, there will be a simulated patient. • Are we expected to summarize to the patient at the end of the history taking and then again summarize to the assessor? You do not need to summarise to the patient, and will be specifically asked to summarise (present your history) to the assessor if required. • Do I dress as if it was a real OSCE or is bare below elbow and professional hair is good enough? You must be dressed for a real OSCE, bare below the elbow and professional dress. • Should we be pretending to sanitise our hands for each station just as we normally would (in real life) via the Teams video call? Or is it better to verbalise that “in real life I would normally wash my hands”? Definitely verbalise it, but if you also wish to demonstrate as you would in real life, this would be good. • Will the exam be recorded? No, we will not be recording the exam • When will station information be released as there is no quarantine, and in what format? This will be sent via email to you at 5 pm the evening before the OSCE exam. The email will contain a list of the stations (not in order as you will all do them in differing orders on the day) in the format; Station Type; Context. For example; Respiratory History
