MCWG ØThe Monitoring and Calculation Working Group (MCWG) discusses and reviews the radiation levels in the LHC as well as the Injectors critical areas and follows their status. ØNot only electronics, but also materials ØThe MCWG will regularly collect information from specific projects and equipment groups. Y. Kadi, 14 -06 -2016 Material Irradiation Testing 3

Organisational details ØMCWG Meetings take place every 2/3 weeks ØFocus on “Working Group” – regular small team with other participants invited when required ØThe MCWG will present the radiation level status during each Rad. WG (when required during operation) ØAn annual comparison of the radiation levels will be issued during the annual technical shutdown Y. Kadi, 14 -06 -2016 Material Irradiation Testing 5

Priorities for 2016+ ØDetailed analysis of expected radiation levels prior and after LS 2, HL-LHC included (TID focus, scaling with OP parameters) ØLong-term radiation damage (thus mitigation requirement) issues in the LHC and its injector chain ØAnalysis of 25 ns operation, scrubbing and long-term impact on radiation levels in the ARCs ØCritical Areas & Mitigation Requirements (relocation/shielding): Ø P 4 and P 6 -> anything more to be done Ø REs, UAs (certain locations), UJs (certain locations) ØRad. Mon full coverage and operational efficiency -> where do we need to go further (version upgrade, additional units, etc. ) ØMaterial and equipment damage in the inner triplets and LSS Ø Link to radiation damage test campaigns ØImplementation study of the optical fibre dosimetry project Y. Kadi, 14 -06 -2016 Material Irradiation Testing 6
