Quoting and Citing • When writing, we quote to show information that is not original to our own minds – it is borrowed. • We use a citation to show from where the information came – the source. • QUOTES NEVER STAND ALONE. QUOTES and CITATIONS ARE ALWAYS INSIDE OF A SENTENCE.

We can take words and phrases. • For quotes from articles, we use the author’s name in the citation. • For quotes from books, we use the author’s name and the page number. • For quotes from websites, we use the author (when known) or the website title.
