Questions/comments for EVS 1534 -612 (JRC) • Questions: 1. Slide 12 – The test matrix specifies total of 60 cells, 4 types (21700, BEV, Pouch, PHEV 2). 2. 3. Slide 19 – How do you propose to define ”egress” criteria for cell level and component level testing? Slides 20 -23 – How is ”time to failure” defined? Ø What breadth of chemistries are covered by these cells? Ø How many manufacturers are represented? Are these representative of global automotive cell suppliers? Ø Would the quality of the study be improved by making additional cell types/suppliers available, if possible? And if yes, would JRC have resources to expand the test matrix to include these? Ø Does JRC have resources to expand the test matrix to include additional trigger methods, if a promising candidate method would surface in a reasonable time frame, e. g. from ISO TC 22 SC 37 WG 3 research? • Comments: 1. 2. Slide 6 – TC 22 SC 37 WG 3 has discontinued work on revision of ISO 12405 -3 and moved thermal propagation topic to Iso 6469 -1 Amend 1 Slides 15 -17 - Good general summary of undefined test conditions for the initiation methods. However, there additional uncontrolled parameters with influence on testing results; e. g. modification of the tested-device can vary greatly depending on who is responsible for the modification, the test authority or the OEM. The accuracy/precision of the measurement equipment to register the appropriate starting time for egress can also have a major impact, especially for a component based test.
