Questions and Answers – Part 2
Break and lunchtimes § Breaktime is 15 minutes long. § Lunchtime is 45 minutes. § Lunchtime arrangements will be reviewed in preparation for September in light of updated COVID-19 information.
Lunchtimes § You are not allowed off-site unless you are going home for lunch and you require a note from a parent/carer. § You are allowed to bring a snack to eat at breaktime. § There are snacks available for you to purchase at breaktime. § We do provide gluten free food. There is an app that you can download onto your smart phone called Kafoodle. You can look at the ingredients of foods that you would like to purchase online. § Year 7 are currently separate from other year groups at lunchtimes/breaktimes. We will be reviewing this arrangement in light of updated COVID-19 information. § Students eat their lunch in the canteen. § Students are welcome to bring packed lunches to school.

Clubs § There are lots of clubs that are on offer at Hall Mead. Please see the student induction handbook for further details of the clubs that are available to students. During this event, students have the opportunity to ask questions about extracurricular clubs that are on offer before signing up to activities and clubs § Clubs are optional. § Clubs take place at lunchtimes, before and after school. § There will be a schedule shared with students and parents/carers.
Sports § Students have the opportunity to take part in all sports during PE lessons, this includes trampolining and gymnastics. § We currently do not run a gymnastics club. § Girls are able to play basketball. § There will be three outdoor surface areas for students to use to play football at lunchtimes. § Students are selected for some sports teams based on their ability. If students are unsuccessful for school sports teams, students have the opportunity to play for their house in inter-house competitions.
Sports (continued) § There are teams and clubs for football and for rugby. § We do not have swimming lessons. Once a year, we hold an inter-house swimming gala at a local sports centre.
Jewellery § Jewellery is not permitted, although girls are allowed to wear one small pair of studs and boys and girls are allowed to wear a wrist watch.
Phones § Students are able to bring phones into school, however phones need to be switched off or on silent. Students are not permitted to use mobile phones on the school site during school hours. § If a member of staff sees a phone being used during the school day, the phone is confiscated. The student collects the phone from the office at the end of the school day. Mobile phone confiscation will result in a detention.
Charities § We support lots of charities and students will often recommend charities to raise money for.
School productions and concerts We hold an annual school production. We hold a Christmas concert and a summer concert.
