Her Early Life • Born Alexandrina Victoria May 1819 • Daughter of Prince Edward, Duke of Kent and Strathearn & 4 th son of King George III • Father and Grandfather (the King) both die in 1820 • Vicky raised by her German-born mother Princess Victoria • Inherits throne after her father’s three elder brothers die with no legitimate heirs at age 18 • Marries Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg & Gotha in 1840 (her first cousin)
