Important Information about Virtual Learning for the 2020 -2021 school year: ● All AACPS students will receive a chromebook by November 2020. ● All students in Grades Pre. Kindergarten- Grade 5 will receive a Learning Backpack during the month of September. ● Students will engage in morning and afternoon learning blocks on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. ● Instructional time half days in the mornings on Wednesdays. ● Daily office hours for families and teachers to connect with each other. ● All lessons will be synchronous and recorded to be viewed at a later time. ● Students will engage in all curricular areas each day. ● On Tuesdays and Thursdays there are optional opportunities for students to engage in a friends and social time, facilitated by the teacher.
Daily Schedule
How can I support my child as a parent? ● ● ● ● Designate a consistent learning area Post a schedule to provide a daily routine for your child(ren) Ensure that your child eats breakfast and lunch during designated times within the instructional schedule Encourage your child to dress appropriately for a live virtual setting Ask your student about their school day Reach out to your child’s teacher and/or support staff Keep bedtimes and routines in place to ensure that students are well-rested for e. Learning
Attendance: Daily attendance is expected and will be graded. Attendance will be recorded during one live period during instructional day. Student Meals Free Breakfast & Lunch - Children 2 -18 - 12: 00 -12: 30 Daily in School Parking Lot. Families do not need to qualify for free/reduced meal program to obtain a meal Complete Free and Reduced Meal Applications for the 20 -21 school year Apply for Free or Reduced Price Meals – Food and Nutrition Services School Uniforms During Virtual Learning our school uniform policy has been suspended. Student should dress comfortably and appropriately for virtual learning. Reading Nightly Scholastic Literacy Pro is a Browser Based literacy program that assesses students reading ability and interest levels and creates a personalized library for each student. Students are encouraged to read every night. Please utilize Scholastic Literacy Pro to provide your child with a wide range of books at a level that is just right for them! How to Access? Class link Click on the Scholastic icon and Class link will automatically sign you in. Select Literacy Pro How to use at home? Use this as a digital at-home library! Allow your child to read books that are interesting to them.
HOMEWORK Students will have access to i. Ready web applications for reading and math in October. It is encouraged that students access both apps for a combined 10 -15 minutes nightly. More information is forthcoming!

What materials do I need for my child? Anne Arundel County Public schools will provide backpacks filled with supplies for every student in Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 5. The backpacks will be safely distributed at the beginning of the school year and will include: math textbook writing/math templates folders notebooks paper clipboard pencils pens crayons markers sharpener dry erase sleeve letter/number cards headphones And much more…. . Please Note: These supplies should be used under teacher direction only. Students should have these supplies readily available for all synchronous learning sessions, including Cultural Arts.

PBIS - Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports Rewarding at home just like at school…. ● Students will earn dojos throughout the day for being RESPECTFUL, RESPONSIBLE and READY ● Students will trade in dojos for virtual prizes like lunch bunches and show and tell. ● We will also continue to do “Positive Office Referrals” and whole class celebrations
