Vocabulary Standard form of a quadratic- The simplest form of a quadratic equation, f(x)=ax 2+bx+c Axis of symmetry- A line that runs through the middle of a parabola, making it two halves Vertex- The point where both sides of the line meet Maximum/Minimum point- The highest and lowest parts of the graph, also known as the y-intercept of the vertex Maximum/minimum value- The value of the highest and lowest points of the graph. Minimum opens upward while the maximum opens downward. Zeros/Roots/X-intercepts- The two points that cross the X-intercepts Y-intercept- The part of the parabola that crosses the Y-intercept Quadratic Formula-

Graphing method 1. Split your equation into an A, B and C values 2. Find the axis of symmetry using the equation given 3. Find the vertex by using the vertex equation 4. Find the X intercepts of the parabola Vertex equation-

Factoring method 1. Find two values that add up to negative twelve and multiply to twenty 2. Put these values into separate equations and solve for X

Completing the square method 1. Move your C value to the right side of the equation 2. Use the equation to find the new C value 3. Plug the new C value in and factor the left side of the equation 4. Find the square roots of both sides 5. Solve both equations to find your two answers

Quadratic formula method Quadratic equation 1. Plug the given equation into the quadratic equation 2. Solve X until it is into it’s simplest form
