What is PSAT? • October 10 thish- during the school day • $20 • Any age can take it (recommended for Sec I, II, III) • National Merit Scholarship- US citizens-must take Secondary III (thought- take SAT first because PSAT is higher stakes if you are going for the scholarship) • Good way to practice this type of testing situation that is common in university courses or for job/career entry
What is SAT? • Any age can take it- typically Secondary III/IV • Not all universities require. . . some are accepting alternative requirements • Dec. 7 & June 6 - Testing dates next year (also at Ion Creanga Pedagogical State University • ~$100 -130 depending on type of tests (SAT, SAT w/Essay, SAT Subject areas) • Take as many times as you want-suggested at least 1 time in spring of Junior year and 1 time in fall of senior year (before early decision)

What do we do now? • Parents/students MUST do your own homework about universities of interest • Know admission requirements/timelines (SAT? TEFOL? ) • AP course=class credit? Ready? Necessary? • Tuition recognition (citizen/national vs international student)

Secondary I, III • PSAT • Start researching/visiting universities or other post high school- contact the entity directly-admissions/financial aid • Start compiling lists/ideas of: people to get letters of rec from, interesting things you've done to write essays about, areas of interest to study • Determine if you want to take AP courses- Sign-up deadline is March 20 for current students
Secondary III • Narrow your options- safe, realistic, reach (5 -7 options) • Create a plan that works for you- know your deadlines! • SAT? • TEFOL? • AP?
Secondary IV • Common App/individual university applications (5 -7) • Scholarship applications • Early acceptance/decision- usually by November, but all universities are different • Get accepted and make your choice and let Mrs. Lisa know!!!!
