QR Code Tutor Model Introduction • QR code tutor model is nothing but innovative use of Microsoft tag. Text books and teachers are source of knowledge for a student from rural India. Learning with self pace is not possible in our school. Is it possible to listen a poem at home ? Is it possible to recapitulate at home ? Is it possible to watch a video related to content? Is it possible to learn beyond school? Is it possible to evaluate oneself - anywhere – anytime ? Is it possible to learn in absence of a teacher ? Answers to all above question is “ Yes”. This is just because of Microsoft Tag. Now QR codes are source of knowledge. QR coded book and a mobile are now tools of their learning. I have developed digital content and framed it in QR codes. All these QR code stickers are pasted in text books of every student. Whenever a student wants to learn he just have to scan that code and the journey begins………. . • Goal of this project is to learn beyond school. All the fundamental skills of a language are developed with QR code based mobile technology. • WE focused on two subjects – Language and Environment.
QR Code Tutor Model Project’s Objectives • To develop fundamental language skills • To learn beyond school with own pace. • To learn , recapitulate and evaluate – anytime – anywhere • To aware students about environment protection. • To increase span of attention using digital content.
QR Code Tutor Model Learning Objectives • To understand respond to instructions , commands and requests. • To acquire new vocabulary. • To write capital and small letters properly. • To trace the strokes and some letters. • To identify different shapes and the distinctions.
QR Code Tutor Model Target class • This project was basically developed for students of class IV standard, but it is equally beneficial for learners from Standard I to IV. • The main feature of the project was that, it was not implemented to a single school only, but it is implemented to 327 schools of the district and state.
QR Code Tutor Model 21 st century skills • Creativity- Creating QR codes for learning process , Recording of poems, Video recording , PPT presentation , creation of collage. • Use of ICT- Developing digital content , using mobile based apps. • Communication - Listening, viewing and responding with one another and communication with farmers and other groups. • Team Work/Collaboration- Students worked in groups of mixed ability. • Critical thinking- Inquiry based research and awareness on protection of environment. • Problem solving- Solving the problem of tree cutting by using QR code • based technology. • Survey- Students made survey on different aspects of environment protection. • Assessment- Peer assessment and personalised assessment.
QR Code Tutor Model Teaching Strategies • Developing digital content • Group survey • Use of QR coded books to communicate knowledge and understanding. • Orientation of parents and students.
QR Code Tutor Model Execution of the Project • First step was to develop digital content in QR codes. These QR coded stickers include mp 3 format of all poems, videos of related content, videos of a teacher and assignments. One can solve assignment any time and get evaluated online. Grades of assignments are created with Flubaroo app. So that a student must know right and wrong answers. Learning- Evaluation-Recapitulation is possible beyond school. • This tutor model is used for two subject. language and environment.
QR Code Tutor Model Execution for Language: • Step 1 : At first all the content was collected related to a language. • Step 2 : All the content was converted in digital format. MP 3 poems were recorded. Videos were recorded, edited and uploaded on you tube. Rural dialects , their pronunciations were recorded in mp 3 format. • Step 3 : All the assignments were formatted based on content. A group of specialists was set up for this. • Step 4 : All the digital content was coded in QR code. (Quick Response) • QR codes were printed on sticker paper and pasted on the book. Each page has unique code. • Step 5 : Orientation program was organized for parents and students to know how to use QR codes?
QR Code Tutor Model Planning for Environment: • We used QR codes to protect environment in an innovative way. We were facing a problem of tree cutting. Farmers were cutting trees for their own reasons. But it drastically affected the rain. So that we started to work on it.
QR Code Tutor Model Planning for Environment: Step 1 : We collected following data: Total no of farmers in the village: Total no of trees in the village: Total no of citizens in the village: Total area of village: Step 2 : Four groups –each of 5 students were formed. Each had to collect a information about the trees. They had to interview every farmer. We tried to collect more information about trees.
QR Code Tutor Model Planning for Environment: Step 3 : One group has collected all the information from 4 groups and also searched more on internet. So that we get more information about each tree. Step 4 : We have coded all the information about every tree , its history in QR format. Trees were graded by their life . A QR coded sticker was pasted on every tree. So that whenever a farmer tries to cut a tree , he will get information about tree. Trees with a “D” grade are permitted to cut. At the same time one has to plant new as well. To know the importance of that tree. We provided a solar energy kit all such a farmers those who tries to cut the tree.
