QAQC CEA SACLAY GAS MESH HONEYCOMB SITE VISIT
QA/QC @ CEA – SACLAY GAS – MESH – HONEYCOMB SITE VISIT – JUNE 2017 01/06/2017 | Gael, Julien, Alan, Philippe and Christos
CONTENTS Tooling & Procedures: Honeycomb (cutting, measuring) Gas tightness (method and setup) Mesh tension (stretching, passivating, gluing, measuring) C. Lampoudis, CEA-Saclay Site Visit , 01 -06 -2017
HONEYCOMB To cut in correct size and control thickness • Cutting (high pressure water-jet, 5 sector sizes). • Height gauge using a solid heavy base for pressing. Granite table 2 x 1 m 2 suitable for honeycomb measurements C. Lampoudis, CEA-Saclay Site Visit , 01 -06 -2017
GAS TIGHTNESS CONTROL To trace and correct gas tightness issues • Method: measuring pressure drop (experience gained on ‘Drift/Drift’ configuration using the 6. 8 mm EPDM 20 shore o-ring). Trapezoid Plexiglas sheet acquired to be used for series control. Setup: Plexiglas+Drift and Drift+RO clamped on Al-frame. C. Lampoudis, CEA-Saclay Site Visit , 01 -06 -2017
MESH ON DRIFT PANEL To obtain homogeneous mesh tension on the drift panel Stretching using the new Grunig device @ CEA. Use dedicated transfer frames (new transfer frames to be constructed). Established process steps (stretch->transfer->passivate->glue->control). Good results on the final tension mapping on drift panels (x 5). C. Lampoudis, CEA-Saclay Site Visit , 01 -06 -2017
SUMMARY Honeycomb cutting and measuring Mesh (full sequence) Gas tightness (new setup to be tested!) C. Lampoudis, CEA-Saclay Site Visit , 01 -06 -2017
