FY 2008 President Bush’s Budget § On February 5, 2007 President Bush released his budget for FY 2008 – The Administration proposes a 50% cut in funding for the Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Act education programs – The Administration also proposed elimination of Tech Prep funds within the Perkins Act Association for Career and Technical Education 9

FY 2008 President Bush’s Budget – Department of Education funded at $56 billion (huge cut) – Department of Education budget would eliminate or consolidate a total of 45 programs – Department of Labor budget cut as well – Some funding for new initiatives Association for Career and Technical Education 10
