What it is Pushkar is a town in India. Pushkar festival is a Hindu festival celebrating the pilgrimage to Pushkar lake. Hindus travel to Pushkar lake together often on camelback or horseback. Before they set off they hold competitions and games.

The festivities They hold many competitions and festivities but the main ones are the longest moustache and the prettiest camel. Hindus come from far and wide and spend heaps of money on their camel (if they have one, if not they just enjoy the fun)!

Religious links Hindu pilgrims travel to Pushkar lake to bathe and wash off their sins (wrong doings) in the holy lake. A Hindu myth A demon killed the children of a Hindu god called Brahma. As revenge, Brahma killed the demon with a lotus flower. As he did so, three petals fell forming Jyeshtha (upper Pushkar lake), Madhyama (middle Pushkar lake) and Kanishtha (lower Pushkar lake).
