Agenda Introduction Objectives Current Status Future Projects Developing of a Research Network for XBRL and IFRS 2
Introduction The Network evolved out of a need to apply a more scientific approach to the research and development of XBRL taxonomies and to build tools which support their use Networks are common methods of cooperation between academic institutions, and commercial business entities The IASC Foundation XBRL Team in cooperation with the Fraunhofer IPSI are setting up a network to support the development of XBRL and IFRS Developing of a Research Network for XBRL and IFRS 3
Potential Participants Universities Fraunhofer IPSI (Germany) IASC Foundation Software Vendors Developing of a Research Network for XBRL and IFRS 4
Founding Members Taxonomy Developer Research Entity Developing of a Research Network for XBRL and IFRS 5
Agenda Introduction Objectives Current Status Future Projects Developing of a Research Network for XBRL and IFRS 6
Objectives Advance high quality research in the area of XBRL and IFRS Enable academics and research environments to be involved with XBRL and IFRS development Share innovative ideas and knowledge with members and with the XBRL International consortium Cooperate on prototype projects Developing of a Research Network for XBRL and IFRS 7
Why Build a Network? Enable a more scientific approach to the development of taxonomies Enhance the quality of the IFRS Taxonomy Test theories in a domain with wide practical application (IFRS) Bring the “practical” commercial and “theoretical” research entities closer together Share human resources – internship programs, creating new opportunities for advancement and development of high quality candidates Solve funding issues Developing of a Research Network for XBRL and IFRS 8
Benefits of a Network Shared resources personnel hardware knowledge technologies experiences Enhanced communication between participants Fosters a team approach to technology problem solving and decisionmaking Synergies from multiple entities with multiple perspectives Developing of a Research Network for XBRL and IFRS 9
Agenda Introduction Objectives Current Status Future Projects Developing of a Research Network for XBRL and IFRS 10
Current status Identifying and inviting high quality universities and research entities to join the network Defining a charter, process and strategy: including structure, projects and timetables Creating a communication platform (for regular meetings, conference calls, etc. ) Developing of a Research Network for XBRL and IFRS 11
Appointment of First Team Member Timo Philipp: Project Manager Coordinator of first joint project relating to IFRS-GP taxonomy versioning Developing of a Research Network for XBRL and IFRS 12
Projects Versioning IFRS taxonomies Creating an IFRS repository Improving ERP reporting Developing of a Research Network for XBRL and IFRS 13
Agenda Introduction Objectives Current Status Future Projects Developing of a Research Network for XBRL and IFRS 14
Future Plans Expanding the network of invited members Identifying and initiating new joint projects Developing of a Research Network for XBRL and IFRS 15
In Summary Network aims to: Create a high quality global network Bring IT and accountancy professionals together Promote the use of XBRL and IFRS Create greater acceptance of XBRL and IFRS working together because of approved design models by universities and research entities Provide enhanced resource capabilities and knowledge exchange between members Developing of a Research Network for XBRL and IFRS 16
