PURPOSE OF LUKE Luke 1 1 4 NASB
PURPOSE OF LUKE Luke 1: 1 -4 (NASB) Inasmuch as many have undertaken to compile an account of the things accomplished among us, 2 just as they were handed down to us by those who from the beginning were eyewitnesses and servants of the word, 3 it seemed fitting for me as well, having investigated everything carefully from the beginning, to write it out for you in consecutive order, most excellent Theophilus; 4 so that you may know the exact truth about the things you have been taught.

PEOPLE BELIEVED JESUS WAS REAL v Jesus heals the Centurion’s servant - Luke 7: 9 (NASB) I say to you, not even in Israel have I found such great faith. v Jesus goes to Simon’s house for a meal and has His feet wiped with a woman’s tears and anointed with perfume - Luke 7: 50 (NASB) And He said to the woman, "Your faith has saved you; go in peace. v Luke 8: 25 (NASB) And He said to them, "Where is your faith? " They were fearful and amazed, saying to one another, "Who then is this, that He commands even the winds and the water, and they obey Him? " v Woman with blood issue is healed Luke 8: 48 (NASB) And He said to her, "Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace. " 4
DID JESUS CHANGE MY LIFE? Luke 6: 46 Why do you call Me, 'Lord, ' and do not do what I say? Matthew 7: 21 (NASB) Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, ' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter. John 8: 31 (NASB) So Jesus was saying to those Jews who had believed Him, "If you continue in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine. John 13: 12 -17 (NASB) So when He had washed their feet, and taken His garments and reclined at the table again, He said to them, "Do you know what I have done to you? 13 You call Me Teacher and Lord; and you are right, for so I am. 14 If I then, the Lord and the Teacher, washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another's feet. 15 For I gave you an example that you also should do as I did to you. 16 Truly, truly, I say to you, a slave is not greater than his master, nor is one who is sent greater than the one who sent him. 17 If you know these 5 things, you are blessed if you do them. ”
PARABLE OF THE SOWER Luke 8: 4 -8, 11 -15 (NASB) When a large crowd was coming together, and those from the various cities were journeying to Him, He spoke by way of a parable: 5 "The sower went out to sow his seed; and as he sowed, some fell beside the road, and it was trampled under foot and the birds of the air ate it up. 6 "Other seed fell on rocky soil, and as soon as it grew up, it withered away, because it had no moisture. 7 "Other seed fell among the thorns; and the thorns grew up with it and choked it out. 8 "Other seed fell into the good soil, and grew up, and produced a crop a hundred times as great. " As He said these things, He would call out, "He who has ears to hear, let him hear. “… 11 "Now the parable is this: the seed is the word of God. 12 "Those beside the road are those who have heard; then the devil comes and takes away the word from their heart, so that they will not believe and be saved. 13 "Those on the rocky soil are those who, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no firm root; they believe for a while, and in time of temptation fall away. 14 "The seed which fell among the thorns, these are the ones who have heard, and as they go on their way they are choked with worries and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to maturity. 15 "But the seed in the good soil, these are the ones who have heard the word in an honest and good heart, and hold it fast, and bear fruit with perseverance. ” 6
MUST BEAR GOOD FRUIT v Luke 6: 44 -45 (NASB) For each tree is known by its own fruit. For men do not gather figs from thorns, nor do they pick grapes from a briar bush. 45 The good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth what is good; and the evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth what is evil; for his mouth speaks from that which fills his heart. v Matthew 7: 19 (NASB) Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. v John 15: 1 -2, 8 (NASB) I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. 2 Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit, He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit, He prunes it so that it may bear more fruit… 8 My Father is glorified by this, that you bear much fruit, and so prove to be My disciples. 7
OBEDIENT OR DISOBEDIENT! v Titus 1: 16 (NASB) They profess to know God, but by their deeds they deny Him, being detestable and disobedient and worthless for any good deed. v Ephesians 5: 6 (NASB) Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience. v Galatians 6: 7 -10 (NASB) Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, this he will also reap. 8 For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life. 9 Let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we do not grow weary. 10 So then, while we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, and especially to those who are of the household of the faith. 8
RIGHTEOUS OR UNRIGHTEOUS! v Romans 6: 12 -14 (NASB) Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its lusts, 13 and do not go on presenting the members of your body to sin as instruments of unrighteousness; but present yourselves to God as those alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God. 14 For sin shall not be master over you, for you are not under law but under grace. v Romans 12: 1 -2 (NASB) Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect. 9
