Why is Corporate Wellness Necessary? • Wells Fargo is a sedentary job • The employees are 50% white males middle age, 30% women and the rest are diverse. • People on the run take random supplements with no knowledge about them. • Their work week is longer and can be more stressful than most careers. • Employees explained that poor diet and lack exercise are their main issues. • Over 25% were smokers. • This results in: – Increase in obesity and metabolic syndrome leading to diabetes and cardiovascular disease – Increased occurrences of low-back pain – Increased chronic stress – Decrease in physical activity

Supplements • The supplement industry contributes over 122 billion dollars to our economy. • Supplements include everything from natural herbs to weight loss products. • The industry is not as regulated as one may believe. • Not all supplements are created equal. Look for a GMP or NSF seal. Consumer. Lab. com, USP. org, NSF. org and ispe. org/initiatives/regulatory-resources/gmp are great resources to make sure your supplements are of high quality. • Taking random supplements without evaluating your individual needs is a common mistake.

Supplements • Generally speaking the majority of people will benefit from a multi vitamin, antioxidant and omega fats. • Avoid fat burners and energy drinks. • A balanced diet will give individuals the majority of nutrition they need. However, with so many foods being processed and the soil being stripped of nutrients supplements are becoming more relied upon. • Just because an individual eats healthy and takes supplements does not mean they do not have a vitamin deficiency. Many people have problems absorbing nutrients because of things such as leaky gut, inflammation and food allergies. • Always check with your doctor before taking any supplement.
