What is a riddle? A riddle is a statement or question that gives hints about an answer so that someone can guess what the answer is.

Use four of the following examples to help you with your pumpkin riddles. • My number is greater than ____. • My number is less than ____. • My number is between ______ and _____. • My number is a two digit number. • My number has a ____ in the ones column. • My number is the sum of _____+ _____. • My number is the difference of _____ - _____.
• Directions: • Write a rough draft FIRST which has four of the sentences. • After you have been checked by a teacher, write your corrected sentences on your pumpkin in a dark colored MARKER: black or brown • Write your secret number at the bottom of your pumpkin. • Color your pumpkin with crayons or colored pencils. • We will give you a sticker to place on top of your secret number to hide it. • Write your name at the top of the pumpkin in marker. • If there is time, we will share our pumpkins in class to guess what your number is!
