PUBLIC SPEAKING: A HOW-TO GUIDE In one survey after another, people identify the one thing they fear most in life: the need to speak in public. Why are we afraid to speak in public? Public speaking is not something we are born knowing how to do. Nor do some people necessarily have a “knack” for it that others lack. Public speaking can be made less intimidating. It can even be enjoyable, if you have something to communicate, are prepared, and practiced. (19) Add stories, especially stories that your audience can relate to, will therefore more likely remember, and will therefore illustrate your thesis or call to action much better.
