Police Department Du. Pont Police Strategic Overview – The reality in 2020 2019 DPD implemented an agile and flexible strategic philosophy, planned around all-hazards preparation and aggressively filling vacant positions. This strategic planning became invaluable when dealing with the unforeseen events of early 2020: Pandemic response plans were successfully initiated, resulting in 24/7 continuity of police services. Plan included, forecasting PPE acquisition, pathogen training for all staff, and implementation of a contingency-staffing plan 2019 Body Camera program was completed and implemented in 2020 (one of the first in Pierce County) K 9 Program (re)established $375, 000 Federal DOJ / COPS grant award Supervision expanded from 12 hours to 24 hours (target) – 2020 Sergeant selection Implicit bias, de-escalation, active threat, civil disturbance, and leadership training Due to COVID, unique community outreach programs were initiated: “Pink Patch”, increased special media presence, working closer with JBLM partners, etc. Organizational development and professionalism: National accreditation goal 11/17/2020 Slide #7
