From 1978 – 2003 Mc. Pherson Parks received close to 1 million dollars in gifts and donations from area businesses and individuals. Mc. Pherson has been a member of Tree City USA for 38 years! The 2015 Tree Reimbursement program, reimbursed residents for 63 plus trees totaling $3, 984. 41 and average of $63. 24 per tree. Our Nuisance Wildlife Control program (skunk removal) removed 192 skunks at a grand total of $4, 320. 00 and average of $22. 50 per skunk. ADA Swing at Kids with Dreams and the Hess Park play system was the first playground equipment purchased by city and donations since 2003. Annual Rentals at: Girls Scout Cabin 178 Community Building 233 In 2015 Parks department mowed and maintain, 210 acres /5 FTE = 42. 0 acres per full time employee, National Recreation and Parks Assoc. National standard is 15 acres per full time employee. Over 70 flower beds and flower pots maintained.
Cemetery Division Established in 1915, has served our community for more than a century. • Mausoleum, built in the 1930 s, renovated in 2012. • More than 60 acres are currently maintained • 46 acres available for future expansion. • Approximately 750 trees • Over 23, 000 burial plots • Program Peace Officer Memorial Day Program Annual Memorial Day, 2015 Funeral Services (68 traditional burials and 44 cremations) grand total 112 services. The cemetery is used by walkers and joggers throughout the year.
Park Division The Park Division oversees maintenance, public awareness and safety of City’s park system, Public Buildings and Green spaces (Drainage Ditches). HASA Scottish Games 2015 Scottish Festival 2015 All Schools Day celebration 2 Easter Egg hunts 3 Car Shows 25 Weddings at Swan Court in Lakeside and Memorial Park 100+ Family picnics, 14 Business/Organization picnics 13 Church picnics, 5 School picnics 10 Concerts at the Band Shell 5 Movies in the Park at the Band Shell sponsored by CVB MRC/Youth Bass Club Fishing Derby Annual hosting of Veteran’s Day at the Park Department shop.
