Food Science & Technology – An Exciting P-TECH Pathway Focus Area: Food Product Development in this Elective includes learning about: • • • Identifying new food products Examining the characteristics of new food products Relating the introduction of new food products and their effect on society Outline the design and development process for food products Design, produce and evaluate a food product These are all areas that are currently being researched and developed in Mars Food Australia and are important when they are considering what new products to put out to the consumers (e. g. Coles, Woolworths) so they remain competitive in the global Food Market. What you will gain from this P-TECH Elective is the ability to work with the R&D Researchers and Development Team at Mars Food Australia to understand how what you are learning in the classroom applies to real life and the Food Industry. And that is only the beginning…. there will be Mentoring, Work Experience opportunities, and a chance to meet and work with University Students from the University of Newcastle who are studying this field. www. ptech. org. a
