PSHE – Week 6 This week in PSHE we will be thinking about how

PSHE – Week 6 This week in PSHE we will be thinking about how we have felt during lockdown and also thinking about moving into the next school year. We recommend that these lessons are completed with an adult / someone you can discuss your thoughts and feelings with. Each lesson will start with a warm up followed by the main tasks/discussion questions. We would love to see your work from Lesson 3 and 4 on Class Dojo!

L. O – To reflect on our feelings over lockdown Lockdown has been a strange and challenging time and everyone has experienced it in their own unique way. Being faced with a situation we have never dealt with before can make us feel a mixture of feelings, positive and negative! It is important to remember that all of these feelings are OK and completely normal! Today we will do some different tasks to explore these feelings we felt and how we can deal with them.

TASK: In your book make a list of all the positive and negative things about lockdown: Negative Positive Example: I get to sleep in late Example: I miss my friends Once you have finished your list, look at your negative list. Are there any you can change to think more positively about? For example: I miss my friends – but it will be special when we finally get to see each other. Share your list with an adult

We all have negative feelings and feel upset, stressed or anxious sometimes and this

We all have negative feelings and feel upset, stressed or anxious sometimes and this is completely normal! What is important, is that we know how to deal with the negative feelings we have. Look at the examples of things you could do when you are feeling upset, stressed or anxious. Discuss: 1) Which of these things do you think are most effective/least effective? 2) Are there any other strategies you would add to the list? 3) Have you used any of these strategies in lockdown? When? Did they help?

L. O – To understand reflect on the circumstances we are in now Today we will think about the effect that coronavirus had on our lives now and in the future. Coronavirus has meant there have been a lot of changes to the way we go about everyday tasks. As lockdown restrictions are lifted we still need to be mindful of making sure we are keeping safe by following social distancing rules.

As time goes on lockdown restrictions will continue to be lifted and life will slowly return to normal. TASK: Think of 3 things you are looking forward to: For example: I am looking forward to being able to go round my friend’s house again. 1) 2) 3)

Lesson 4 Warm Up Imagine you could write a note to yourself at the start of lockdown. What advice would you give yourself? For example I would tell myself : Keep to a routine so that you get your work done! Write 3 pieces of advice you would give yourself.

L. O – To prepare for changes next year Changes Starting a new year can be an exciting (but sometimes worrying!) time. Make a list of all the changes that will happen as you move into a new year. For example: being in a different classroom Once you have finished your list talk about with an adult: 1) Which changes you are looking forward to? 2) Which changes are you not looking forward to? 3) How do the changes make you feel? Excited? Worried? Nervous?

What can we do about the changes that make us feel nervous? • Talk about it with someone (or write it on a piece of paper if you are not ready to say it out loud) – sharing your worry will make it feel lighter! • Make a plan for how you will deal with the worry • Remember that these feelings are completely normal! Your teachers have them too at the start of a new year! But we will all support each other to make sure we all feel settled.
