Main Points On Friday 15/01 beam commissioning restarted with 1 day delay (see Linac 4 report). The aim was to re-establish condition like on 17 th of December 2020. By the end of the day: Ø Ø Beam circulating in all 4 rings at 160 Me. V ring 1 watchdog issue solved First orbit check on ring 3 after beam-based alignment in w 1 reduced the rms orbit by the expected amount; tbc Tune control: introduced coefficient to correct the magnetic length to compensate for the discrepancy between programmed and measured tune Injection oscillation studies: • • Considerably improved by modifying injection chicane settings: increasing the strength of the BSW 1 s (+1. 5%) and reducing it for the BSW 2/3/4 s (-3%) Strong indication found of a polarity inversion of the 2 internal painting kickers access ongoing right now FOM 19/01/2021 2
Additional Points Ø Software: • • • Ø Ø Ø First test of new k-modulation optics measurement tool New release of Cruise Control application with some improvements New release of SIS all ring injection permits tested and operational Beam instrumentation: work on ring BPMs, ring BCTs, wire scanners Power converters: improvements on Q-strips and extraction bumpers Night from Friday to Saturday new reliability run for pulsing the extraction kickers immediately after injection still a couple of pulsing failures Energy matching with Linac 4 some points were followed up; redo today New cycle for 2. 0 Ge. V RF commissioning set up (thanks Michi!)
