PROVISIONAL TRANSPORTATION WAIVERS St. Johns County School District Transportation/Information Technology
Transportation Waivers • For the start of the 2017/2018 school year, the Transportation Department will no longer accept bus passes • The term “courtesy rider” is no longer recognized • Parents/Guardians or Principals may apply for a Provisional Transportation Waiver for a student to receive additional transportation services (services other than eligible riders riding a bus between assigned schools and stops) • The Provisional Transportation Waiver Program (PTWP) extends transportation services to students assigned to district schools based on space availability and criteria
Emergency Waivers • Under emergency circumstances, school principals may contact the Transportation Department by phone to initiate a temporary emergency waiver. • The school hotline to Transportation is 547 -4361 or manager cell phones. • The Transportation Department will provide verbal approval of waivers to principals, dispatch, and bus operators. • Emergency waivers are temporary and conditional, valid for up to two (2) school days pending formal application of the waiver by parents/guardians or principals. • Transportation will expedite emergency waivers within one (1) school day once an application is received from parents/guardians or principals.
Overview of Waiver Program • Parents/Guardians or Principals may apply for a Provisional Transportation Waiver via a web portal @ www. stjohns. k 12. fl. us/transportation using the PTWP link. • The Transportation Department will review the applications via committee. The committee will evaluated applications based on criteria and space availability on the respective bus/buses. • For approved waivers, the student’s bus information will be entered into Bus. Planner and E-School Plus and appear on the bus operator’s manifest.
The Waiver Process The Transportation Department worked with the IT Department to streamline the waiver process. Information is stored in E-School Plus and Bus. Planner. Communication is automated via school messenger. 1. ) Parents/Guardians or School Principals apply via the webpage: www. stjohns. k 12. fl. us/transportation using the PTWP link Test link: Test 2. ) The Transportation Department will receive an email via the SJCSD Transportation Waiver Outlook inbox. The email contains all information entered on the application. 3. ) The Transportation Department will review the waiver application via committee. 4. ) Reviewed applications are stored in E-School Plus. Approvals will result in changes to bus information in Bus. Planner and E-School Plus. 5. ) Applicants will receive emails via school messenger regarding waiver decisions (Received, Approved, Denied, Suspended).
