Provision for Vulnerable Students at St Cuthbert’s
The Learning Support Centre (Farne) The Learning Support Centre is an area where students can access support, emotionally or academically, to help maximise their opportunities within school. This can be by 1 -2 -1 mentoring, groupwork, counselling etc. The staff are highly trained and have the time and dedication to help students in their time of need.

Intervention/Support The LSC can help and/or offer support for the following: • • • • Young Carers External Counselling (Barnardo's) Anxiety Self-esteem Bereavement Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) Positive Communication Reintegration Transition Induction 1 -2 -1 mentoring Anger Management Friendship groups Break and Lunch drop in Break and lunch “safe haven”
SEND Intervention/Support The LSC is very closely linked to the SEND department and work in collaboration to help students. SEND Intervention offered: • • • Literacy - spelling, reading, comprehension, phonics, handwriting Numeracy Social Skills - Year 10 AQA accredited
Monitoring process • Each student, 1 -2 -1 or within a group, complete an initial questionnaire. • Answers are qualitative • These are then converted to numbers for monitoring purposes • Each session a progress sheet is completed and recorded in the Mentors folder • At the end of the intervention, each student completes an exit questionnaire – same questions for standardisation • Again these are then converted to numbers for monitoring purposes • . Upon analysis of the results, a decision is made for the next step for each student
