Prospect Social Science Pathways Required Sequence Optional Courses & Recommended Pre-Requisites Advance Placement World History Honors 10 th Grade World History 11 th Grade US History 12 th Grade Government/ Economics Questions? Carthy Mr. Prado Mr. Slimak Mr. Smith Mr. Swart • Provides greater rigor and depth within the current 10 th grade curriculum. Increased focus on skills to prepare for future AP classes. • Recommended that students earn a B- or better in English 1; or at least C in English 1 H. Or • This class covers a greater survey of content at the college level and builds skills that will prepare students for the AP exam and future AP classes. • Recommended that students earn a B- or better in English 1 or at least C in English 1 H. Concurrent enrollment in English 2 H is suggested. Advanced Placement US History • This is a college-level class. Students should be prepared for a college-level workload; and have the goal of taking the AP exam in the Spring. • Recommended that students earn a B- in World History Honors or C in World History AP and C in English 2 H. Concurrent enrollment in English 3 H is suggested. Advanced Placement Government & Politics • This is a college-level class. Students should be prepared for a college-level workload; and have the goal of taking the AP exam in the Spring. • Recommended that students earn a C or better in APUSH; or a B- or better in US History. 11 th or 12 th Grade Electives Advance Placement World History Advanced Placement US History Psychology/Sociology • This is an academic elective. Students will be expected to complete research papers as well as mid-term and final exams. • The course is focused on the relationship between the individual and the society they live in.
