Explanation In this scene the Titans coach took them running to the Gettysburg field where the Battle of Gettysburg happened. This coach or “teacher” is using the many people that died in this battle to show hatred tore them apart.

Application This coach is using a historical event that happened a long time ago to show his players that hatred leads to destruction. If all of his players hate each other they will destroy a family, a friendship, and a team. This coach is teaching a valuable life lesson and this proves to impact the players later on in this movie.
