Intended Outcomes • Manage A-16 themes and associated data as strategic assets within a portfolio • Use metrics and dashboards to support setting development and investment priorities – Provide development transparency and accountability – Improve policy development, program decisions, and business outcomes – Increase return on investment: business support and dollars – Achieve One Government-One Team (Federal, State, and Local) with Increased public/private partnerships 2

A-16 Supplemental Guidance Document • Approved June 2010 by FGDC Steering Committee: – – – Clarifies roles & responsibilities Establishes a common lexicon Presents a data lifecycle management process Defines geospatial data theme principles Focuses on National Geospatial Data Assets • Review by OMB concluded on September 8 th – Moving through the internal OMB clearance process for official release – Anticipated to take a few weeks to complete • Serves as a template for the services, applications, and infrastructure of the platform along with other appropriate OMB circulars 3

Status and Next Steps • Conducted 11 lifecycle evaluation walkthroughs and preliminary data set maturity assessments in winter/spring of FY 2010 • Propose undertaking a dataset maturity walk through for each selected NGDA as baseline • Drafted proposed data, theme, portfolio, Agency-level, FDGC Secretariat level administrative metrics • Posted all draft metrics and assessments on the Lifecycle Management Workgroup Quicker Site • Review of metrics by full FGDC anticipated in FY 2011 • Anticipate collaboration with other geospatial metric activities in FY 2011 to leverage and harmonize efforts • Complete conceptualizing Dashboards and Score Cards • Determine how to integrate A-16 work into Geospatial Platform efforts 10
