Final Consonants • Final consonant sounds are essential in English. Most words end in a consonant sound. • The majority of words with a vowel sound are frequent use words such as “to” or “you” or end in “ly” or “y”. • If final consonant sounds are left off or mispronounced, it can be very difficult for native English speakers to understand.
