Prompt Calibration Loop 11 February 2011
Overview • Prompt calibration loop in SCT – Provides ATLAS with conditions data used for the bulk reconstruction at Tier 0 (& reprocessing) • Noisy strip map (only as of today) – Provides SCT with key variables to monitor the performance • Noisy strip/chip, dead strip/chip, noise occupancy, efficiency, bytestream errors etc. • Offline jobs to create the outputs run automatically on TMS (Task Management System). – DQ shifter monitors the job status. • All outputs are manually uploaded to COOL database – DQ shifter uploads the outputs to COOL. 2
Bulk Reconstruction at Tier 0 • “Bulk reconstruction” at Tier 0 – Tier 0 runs reconstruction on RAW data for each run. – The outputs are distributed to Tier 1 s for physics analysis. • Run-calibration-reconstruction cycle – A run finishes. – A fixed 36 hours is given to subsystems, as offline calibration period. Prompt calibration loop has to be – Reconstruction starts. completed within 36 hours run 1 run 2 calibration 1 (36 hours) run 3 calibration 2 (36 hours) reconstruction 1 reconstruction 2 time 3
Prompt Calibration Loop • For a given run, prompt calibration loop has to be completed within 36 hours. • 3 steps – Processing : Offline calibration jobs run automatically. – Outputs : Appear on a dedicated Web page. – Uploads : Uploads to COOL database on the Web page. 4
Processing • For a given run, 7 types of jobs are defined. Type Noisy strip Dead chip Comments Used for bulk reconstruction Performance monitoring Noise occupancy Raw occupancy Efficiency Bytestream error Performance monitoring 5
Shifter’s Work • Go to SCT-dedicated upload Web page (See page 7). https: //pc-sct-www 01. cern. ch/24 h. Loop/index. php – Log in. – Check a list of runs in recent 2 days on ATLAS Run. Query, which are in prompt calibration loop period (36 hour timewindow for each run). – Upload the outputs if available. – Contact experts for any questions/problems. • Go to Task Lister Web page (See page 8). https: //atlas-tz-monitoring-caf. cern. ch/task. Lister. html – Monitor jobs for a list of runs are defined/running/done. – Contact experts for any questions/problems. 6
