ROLES OF COUNCIL President Elect Secretary/Treasurer Administration & Governance Promotions & Public Relations Professional Development • President sets direction of Council upon election, provides leadership for Council, spokesperson for SPPI. • President Elect represents SPPI at the national level (CIP) • Ensures that all documents and records of the Association are properly maintained • Responsible to oversee the financial affairs of the Association • Administer & Establish Council Policies & Bylaws that ensure efficient operations of the Association, appropriate administration of the Code of Ethics, and implements procedures of the national planning body • Deliver the Annual SPPI Planning Conference • Promote the operations of SPPI to members & general public • Provide communications to the membership • Provide support to the membership in areas such as CPL reporting and obtaining full membership • Actively seek and provide information to the membership on learning opportunities

MEMBER SERVICES A professional code of ethics upon which to ensure the planning profession in Saskatchewan provides the highest level of service and enhances confidence in the profession Professional Liability Insurance and access to other insurance options through CIP Networking opportunities through the use of consultant listings, job postings, annual conferences, educational events, & volunteer opportunities Exclusive use of the title “Registered Professional Planner” and the initials “RPP" and “MCIP” (Full Members) Membership portability across Canada (subject to provincial legislation) and reciprocal agreements with planning institutes abroad. Volunteer opportunities through which to contribute to the profession and network with professional peers.

PLANNING IS GAINING MOMENTUM Many of Saskatchewan’s 786 rural and urban municipalities have been under pressure to respond to growth demands, spurring: § 158 municipalities to participate in the province’s Planning for Growth program § the development of 18 planning districts involving 88 municipalities and two First Nations across the province § an increase in the number of Official community plans (40% of municipalities); and Zoning bylaws (63% of municipalities) § A growing interest in establishing planning and development services to support local and regional demands for residential and commercial lots, expanding infrastructure, and servicing
