The Creative Industries Event “Bit Crush is the annual charity games, animation and digital

The Creative Industries Event “Bit Crush is the annual charity games, animation and digital design festival, held to raise money for Demelza Hospice Care for Children. Taking place over three days in November, each year, Games Development and Digital Design & Animation students plan and organise events to raise money for the charity. These events include retro game booths, an artists’ row, bake sales, competitions, raffles and cosplay. Students work in teams, creating all of the artwork for the event and competing to raise as much money as possible. Staff from Demelza are also present with a retro games and merchandise shop, selling everything from Mega Drive games to Game. Cubes, comics and T-shirts. The festival has been running in partnership with Demelza for the last five years and last year students managed to raise £ 2700 for charity. ”

The Scenario You work for a small Marketing and Promotion company and have been approached by the organisers of Bit Crush about helping to promote their event. However, some of the organisers of Bit Crush aren’t really sure if they need to promote their event. You will need to help them understand the importance of promoting their event and the benefits of doing so. What does a marketing company do? How would you describe the ‘Bit Crush’ event? What is Demelza House? Figure out how to sell a product. A charity event that gives money to Demelza. A hospice that treats terminally ill children.

Return of the Scenario The client has chosen Posters to promote the event. You will now need to begin planning your own poster, this will be your company’s final product. You must create a plan and a description of what you want your poster to be like before moving on to create it. Use research to make sure it is appropriate for the event and target audience by finding examples of existing posters for a similar event. Start by generating your ideas with a mind map and a mood board. Once you have your initial plan, and have been told that the client is happy with the idea, you will need to identify the resources you will need to create the final product. These could be equipment, software, computers, anything that you will need to complete your product. All of these things will help form your plan.
