RCGP Competencies a project can provide evidence for • • • Data gathering & Interpretation Making Diagnosis & Decisions Clinical Management Managing Medical Complexity/Promoting Health Organisation, Management & Leadership (especially if you delegate to others in helping you with the project – eg admin team). Working With Colleagues (& in teams) – again, if you delegate. Community Orientation - through improving health/social care of the local population. Maintaining Performance, Learning & Teaching Fitness to practise - if you write a log entry reflecting on how the project went for you, what you learnt about doing projects, how to make them less stressful in the future and so on.
Other things demonstrated • ability to construct a logical argument and communicate it in written English • ability to plan and sustain activity over a period of time • encourages higher levels of achievement than ‘minimum competence’

The project is a self directed piece of learning which: • • • addresses a defined problem is related to previous work presents qualitative or quantitative findings Makes references to the relevant literature interprets these findings draws conclusions from the evidence presented
