POINT OF VIEW AND PERSPECTIVE. . . The community that we are part of, does indeed have many migrants. In example, Hellevoetsluis has its own refugee centre and many parts of our region consist a variety of cultures. In our opinion, this does not affect us in any way. We are all human. No, we do not look the same, we do not talk in the same way and we absolutely do not have the same personalities. However, this is what makes us unique. In short, we adore living in a multicultural area… Would you treat them differently than other people around you? Yes, I would/do. I don't think they belong here. Are there any refugees in the region you live in? No, I wouldn't/don't. We are all equal. Yes, there are. Yes, but not in a discriminating way. Not that I know of. No, there aren't 3% 14% 19% 67% 55% 42%

INTERVIEW WITH ZAKARIA (IN SHORT) On the 24 th of November, we went to the refugee center in Hellevoetsluis, for an interview with Zakaria is a Muslim who had to flee from his homeland. He came here with the intention to assimilate in the Netherlands. Despite being only 31 years old, Zakaria already spoke the English language fluently and he is currently taking classes to pick up the Dutch language as well. When Zakaria lived in Daria (Syria), he had a job as a hotel manager At the moment of the interview, Zakaria had been staying here on his own. However, he was expecting to see his wife and son within 10 days. Despite Zakaria's journey being rather difficult – as it took him 22 days – his wife and son will travel by plane. Zakaria used every type of public transport to get to his final destination, the Netherlands.
