Project Definition Purpose � To evaluate the brand’s position in the market, to identify its strength & weakness during the pandemic Covid-19 crisis. � Marriott Windsor Hotel, London- Headquarters in Washington DC. Top leading luxurious hotel. Marriott International owns a total of around 30 brands, with more than 7400 properties with its branches in 134 countries and territories and is popular for its remarkable business operations � My role- LRA Consultant, Deloitte
� Through the analysis of Brand Standard Audit (BSA) process based on the Marriott hotel standard guidelines, recommendations are offered to improve hotel services (Rajagopal, 2019) amidst the pandemic crisis. � The brand portfolio includes services in three different tiers namely the luxury, premium, and the select quality services and amenities (Marriott International, 2018).
� Purpose objective: To improve the efforts and compliance of brand management and to sharpen the brand awareness marketing. � Outcomes achieved are based on cleanliness, finance, operating services, employee performance, facilities offered & leadership. Measured using customer satisfaction rating, quality metrics and quality assurance activities. � Project scope- Boundaries based on location as it is a tourist destination spot, high competition and accessibility.
� Deliverables: Report to be completed in 12 weeks time and submitted to General Manager of the hotel and senior leadership authority in Marriott Internationals. � Departments: Food and Beverages, Front office, Housekeeping, Sales and Finance, Kitchen, Leisure, Human resource and maintenance.
� Recommendations offered in Covid-19 crisis: cashless payments, cutting off buffet system and closing the food outlets, use of protection shields in front desk area, adopting protocols that are highly hygienic and clinically clean, training the staff members with special practice with regard to Covid-19 preventive measures and customer care quality services and by cutting off the capacity for banquet parties by 50% (Chaturvedi, 2020).
� Constraints: external environment- PESTLE (Political, Economic, Sociocultural, technological, legal, and environmental) analysis � Assumptions: internal environment- SWOT (strength, Weakness, Opportunity, Threats) analysis
Confidence in the Audit Team � 25% of the Marriott hotels have temporarily been shut down � 60% downfall in Rev. PAR causing financial impacts (Global. Data, 2020). � Limited services in booking trends � Inherent, control, detection risk types identified. � Hence, an effective auditing has to be conducted in order to overcome the risks and challenges faced by the hotel during the pandemic crisis.
Cleanliness and hospitality standards can be elevated and steps to retain the liquidity are carried out to mitigate the negative impacts caused by the pandemic crisis. � Plans were proposed to evaluate the technical barriers, reduce the operational cost, administrative and general expenses by implementing amendments that reduces the senior staff salaries, by delaying renovations for a period of twelve months, requesting for reduced cash outlays from the owners and the franchisees, and by decreasing the liabilities for marketing aspects and other investments (Research and Markets, 2020). � The item value, supply, and other basic key dynamic factors in marketing are evaluated for cost effectiveness by using the cost effective management model. �
The Audit Team and the Project Plan � � � Project manager- A person responsible for running the successful completion of a project from the beginning till its ending. Project Team- comprises of team leader, an auditor in training, technical experts, and lead auditor. Project Control- flow of communication controlled by project managers. Through effective project reporting, the performance and the daily updates regarding the tasks are communicated effectively through frequent meetings with the stakeholders. The progress of a project is monitored by considering the budget elements, timeline details, resources, finance, and task completion factors. Monitoring the project is carried out by setting regular intervals to monitor, employing the use of a spread sheet, and by adjusting the expectations
� Quality Control- The quality of deliverables is evaluated in each department for completing the task in scheduled timeline and measures by using the quality assurance standards and policies of the hotel by the quality management team. � Start Date- July 21 st, 2020 � End Date -September 21 st, 2020
