Inall@hull. ac. uk Internships & Hull Awards • Throughout the year !YEEH fostered new relations hips with SMEs, distributed Guidance Packs and developed ongoing internship relationships. • 16 new internships were established with businesses and individuals such as the Hull History Centre, Bright Ethics, Design PR and Dr Tracy Borman, Chief Executive of the Heritage Education Trust. • 20 student interns worked with the Head of Skills to complete aspects of the new Hull Awards and Badging Scheme. One !YEEH student intern won the 2014 Hull University “Young Entrepreneur Award” • Student awareness of internships was promoted through the new Department of History Employability Webpages. Promotion !YEEH was promoted at two T&L Conferences: one at the Universities of York and one at Hull: through a growing online presence and a forthcoming published T&L journal report. !YEEH A Year of Embedding Employability in History Employability Events: !YEEH hosted four employability events around themes: • Entrepreneurship – presented by Joanne Vose, of Business Springboard • Business Ethics – presented by Daniel Marten of Bright Ethics, Hull. • Public Relations – presented by Jess Clark of Divine Clark PR, Beverley. • Heritage – a video was produced of a Q&A session with Dr Tracy Borman, Alumnus of the Department of History , University of Hull and Chief Executive of the Heritage Education Trust. Postgraduate Employability Workshop !YEEH funded two external speaker sessions at the 2014 History Postgraduate Workshop. Debora Agazzoni and Lynne Kelman of the University of Glasgow taught our PGS how to set up an online postgraduates journal and Dr Katie Wheat of Research VITAE, Cambridge, led an interactive doctoral candidate employability session. Raising Staff Awareness Throughout the year staff also coordinated input into new Alumni pages of the Department’s employability website.
