Project 10: Transition Education Network Overview This training was developed by the Project 10: Transition Education Network, a special project funded by the Florida Department of Education, Division of Public Schools, Bureau of Exceptional Education and Student Services, through federal assistance under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), Part B.

Project 10 Transition Education Network § Project 10 is Florida’s statewide discretionary project supporting the secondary transition of youth with disabilities. § It is funded by the Bureau of Exceptional Education and Student Services (BEESS), within the Florida Department of Education. § Project 10’s primary charge is to assist school districts in providing appropriate planning and timely transition services and programs to assist youth with disabilities in their transition to adulthood. § Project 10 also serves as a collaborative resource for other state agencies, discretionary projects, non-profit organizations, and families in the provision of transition services for students served in exceptional student education. 3
Project 10 Mission § The mission of Project 10 is to assist Florida school districts and relevant stakeholders in building capacity to provide secondary transition services to students with disabilities in order to improve their academic success and post-school outcomes. • Provision of training, technical assistance, and resources to school district personnel serving secondary (middle/high school) students with disabilities 4

Capacity Building § Project 10 provides support for transition activities implemented through BEESS for statewide development and implementation of evidence-based practices and alignment with general education initiatives. § Project 10 provides training and technical assistance, including product development and dissemination, to assist school districts and other stakeholders in building capacity to implement secondary transition.
Interagency Collaboration § Project 10 provides funding and logistical support for developing and maintaining state and district level interagency activities. • Project 10 CONNECT minigrant funding • 2013 -14: Funded 38 sites serving 45 school districts • 2014 -15: Funded 35 sites serving 42 districts

Transition Legislation and Policy § Working closely with our Florida Department of Education (FDOE), Bureau of Exceptional Education and Student Services (BEESS) liaison, Secondary Transition Specialist: § Project 10 provides training and technical assistance, including product development and dissemination, related to state and national legislation, State Board of Education Rule, and policy, including compliance requirements to transition stakeholders.
Student Development and Outcomes § Project 10 provides training and technical assistance, including product development and dissemination, related to state and national evidence-based practices to support student development and outcomes in secondary transition.

Project 10 STING RAY § STING RAY offers young adults with intellectual disabilities, ages 18 to 22, an opportunity to experience life on a college campus while developing selfdetermination, independent living, and employability skills. § STING RAY’s mission is to provide an innovative and transformational postsecondary learning experience that will empower young adults with significant cognitive disabilities to acquire the knowledge and skills needed to become independent and productive citizens.
