INTRODUCTION Importance of condition monitoring system on railway tracks to ensure safety Design an automated condition monitoring equipment for railway tracks. Parameters: temperature and stress 3
PROBLEM STATEMENT Abnormal changes of parameter: temperature and stress. The design: *detects abnormal changes before significant failure can develop *Helps to increase reliability and safety of rail tracks 4
CUSTOMER NEEDS ANALYSIS Customer needs • Interview with engineers working in Method 1 Siemens company who are responsible for the Qatar foundation City people : mover project in Qatar Method • electronic survey using Survey Monkey website 2: 5
METHOD 1: INTERVIEW An interview with Siemens was conducted and the following information were determined: v People Mover track are using electrical resistance strain gauges to determine the stress v Building the railway track in Doha is critical because of the hot weather v The need of addition sensors (e. g. temp. sensors) are essential 6
METHOD 2: SURVEY A survey was conducted to make further study about the customer needs Outcome results were studied for analysis 7
