Programs Purpose SPACE CAMP and AVIATION CHALLENGE programs use the excitement of space exploration and aviation to stimulate young people’s interests in the study of math, science and technology. Last year these programs served over 35, 000 astronauts and pilots in training.

Standards All activities correlated to national science, math and technology standards. All weeklong programs

Standards All activities correlated to national science, math and technology standards. All weeklong programs satisfy some requirements for Boy Scout and Girl Scout merit badges.

Where are we going? Space Camp is operated in Huntsville Alabama at The U.

Where are we going? Space Camp is operated in Huntsville Alabama at The U. S. Space & Rocket Center. Aviation Challenge is also operated at The U. S. Space & Rocket Center in Huntsville, AL. These two programs are operated at different locations on campus.

What about meals? Meals at space camp are included in the cost of the trip. • What types of food are offered? Space Camp offers a wide range of foods. Meals are cafeteria style and include vegetables, fruits, proteins, and dessert. • Can you accommodate special dietary needs? Yes, but camp must be aware of any special dietary needs prior to our arrival. • What about meals to and from camp? Students will need to purchase meals on the way to and from camp.

Where do we stay? – SPACE CAMP trainees are housed in a futuristic space

Where do we stay? – SPACE CAMP trainees are housed in a futuristic space station mock-up. Set up in individual rooms of up to seven persons or bays of 10 -20 bunk beds. – The Aviation Challenge Hangar houses up to 300 trainees in military -style bays of bunk beds. – Male and female rooms on separate floors. – A resident counselor and a security guard are on duty all night long.

Can I be with my friend? Yes, please let us know on your application (you will receive this in Wednesday packets in November). Requests must be mutual, so please make sure the friend requests your child as well. Teammates must pick each other or they can not be honored. We strive to honor all requests but they are not guaranteed.

Cell Phones & Electronics Can my child bring a cell phone? “Space Camp ask that parents NOT pack cell phones and other electronic devices. Cell phones that are visible and used during camp activities or times other than appropriate call times (wake up / lights out) may be confiscated by space camp.
