CIS 5 Basic Beliefs For 35 years, Communities In Schools has worked to ensure that every child has access to the "Five Basics" We believe that every child needs and deserves: • A personal 1 -on-1 relationship with a caring adult. • A safe place to learn and grow • A healthy start and a healthy future • A marketable skill to use upon graduation • A chance to give back to peers and the community
Basic Premise CIS provides the link between educators and the community by bringing caring adults into the schools to address children’s unmet needs The result: Administrators are free to administer, teachers are free to teach, students – many in jeopardy of dropping out – have the opportunity to focus on learning
CIS Provides 6 Program Activities üSupportive Guidance/Counseling üEnrichment Activities üEducational Enhancement üParental Involvement üSocial, Health and Human Services üPre-employment Activities
CIS / ACE Objectives and Outcomes • Decrease Drop-out Rate • Increase Improvement Rates (Academics, Attendance, Behavior) • Increase promotion rates • Increase graduation rates • Provide college and career readiness • Increase standardized test scores
