What are the main objectives The aim of the project is to develop a concept for the launching of regular shipping along the international waterway E 60 and link it to a network of other inland waterways - E 30, E 40 and E 70. The concept will include technical, economic and social aspects in order to achieve the best possible economic effects.
What are the main objectives The project will also attempt to formulate a set of new transport tools to support active development of peripheral coastal region of South Baltic area by focusing on local seaports as growth pools
What is the main planned result Creation of effective business models for fostering synergies alongside international waterways and revitalisation of inland waterway transport links leading to the reduction of the number of delivery vehicles, congestion, pollution and GHG emissions
How will we achieve it
1 st step - report Report on the current economic and social situation of the regions influenced by the local South Baltic Sea ports. The report will include the results of detailed research and analysis of the transport system in the area and transport infrastructure (road, rail, inland waterways, port infrastructure). The report will also include an analysis of cross-border cooperation of local ports, investment and development needs and development barriers and bottlenecks.
2 nd step – model of cargo flow Computerized cargo flow model of the South Baltic Region will be developed. Its scope will include international waterways - E 30, E 40, E 60 and E 70 as well as road and rail transport. The purpose of this transport model will be to show current cargo distribution for each transport sector and to present the possibility of modal shift of part of cargo flows on to sea-river transport routes.
3 rd step – trainings The model will be presented to interested entities. Its functionality and an explanation of how to use it for business purposes will be presented.
4 th step – pilot trips Pilot trip no. 1: The Innovative and eco-friendly seariver vessel type will call at local ports along the route Oostende - Klaipeda. Its purpose will be to show the possibilities of cargo and passengers transport along the IWW E 60.
4 th step – pilot trips (cont. ) Pilot trip no. 2: Will take place along an inland waterway connected to the local seaport and further to the Baltic Sea. Pilot trip will demonstrate how to transport cargo and passengers using inland waterways and the ability of local ports to handle sea - river vessels and their cargo.
How will we achieve it (cont. )
Cooperation between projects
Cooperation between projects The EMMA project aims at tackling the challenges and opportunities focusing on inland- and river-sea shipping. Especially increasing the modal share of inland- and river-sea shipping to, from and between Baltic Sea Region countries, fostering a better integration of inland- and river-sea shipping in the BSR transport chains and the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region
Cooperation between projects The project will improve technical, ICT and management capacity of small ports, compatibility of Connect 2 Small. Ports port and transport infrastructure, port ICT and management systems in order to arrive at better operational and environmental performance
Cooperation between projects The main objective of the SB TRANSPORT LOOPS SB Transport Loops project is the development of new regular shipping connections in order to develop small- and medium sized seaports
Summary • • Will be implemented until May 2021 5 regular partners and 5 assiciated partners Concept for the launching of regular shipping along the international waterway E 60 Formulate a set of new transport tools Creation of effective business models 4 main steps report, model of cargo flow, trainings, pilot trips Cooperation between projects
