What are we doing to increase the communication? • Encourage Parents to get involved – Family Fun Night/games – Water Ice Social – Taco Night • These all connect with the community as well. • Monthly News Letters – Highlighting any events, important dates, and reminders • Invite parents in to volunteer – Read to the class – Trips • Or anything else needed • Phone calls home – Good reports

What are we doing to increase the communication continued… • Offer Resources to the parents – Community help – Organizations – Other services • IPA Meeting (Involved Parents Association)

Where to start? Proactive Communication Styles • Surveys – Best way of communication (email, phone, text, etc…) – Languages spoken at home – What their interests are – What their goals are • Home Visits – Build relationships

Use of Technology to Collaborate Communicating through Multiple Channels • • Email School Website Individual Teacher websites Cell Phone – – All call system Text Call App’s • Power school • Schoology • Class Dojo • Internet access to those listed above (if unable to get on a cell phone)

Interpersonal Communication Things that should be considered when communicating: • Perception/Interpretation • Culture • Be clear, concise, and to the point • Adapting the form of communication based on need • Be a good listener
