Professional Development Course (PDC) for Medical Officers In Service Training Course Designed and managed by NIHFW funded MOHFWGOI

Course Objective �To impart knowledge and skill pertaining to Health Care Delivery at primary and referral stages with emphasis on bottom up health planning at district, Block, PHC and village level. �To improve the managerial competence of district and block levels medical officers in �Public health �Management and �Health sector reforms

Learning Objective. . �At the end of training trainees should be able to understand �National Health policy �Conceptual framework of Implementation of NRHM �District health Planning �Managerial skill in planning, monitoring and evaluation process �Concept of health sector reforms

Recognition of course �Central Council for Health and Family Welfare (CCH&FW) in 2003 �Course was declared desirable for promotion to higher managerial posts throughout the country at district level �Indian Public Health Standards (IPHS) �Course is included in IPHS for District Medical Officers to ensure public health proficiency.

Selection criteria for participants Selection criteria Rejection criteria Service length of 11 -14 years in state health services Senior medical officer due to be promoted as District officers Medical officers working at district level involved in district health planning and monitoring Other at discretion of state RCH office Retirement within 3 -5 year Senior medical officer (clinical specialist) to be promoted as specialist cadre Any disciplinary action (financial issues) against doctor in last 5 years Medical officer trained in specialized training like EMOC/LSAS etc.

Nomination and Course fees Nomination Course fees State RCH office coordinate nomination and relieving of doctor for training In states different training institutes are conducting PDC trainings (List attached) Interested doctor should contact state RCH office NIHFW funds institutes for PDC training in states No fees is being charged from Participants Training institutes arranges Residential accommodation Out of pocket expenses are being paid to participants by training Local Transportation and field visits

Course Duration �Ten Week Course (Residential and continuous) �Class room (7 week) �Field visit (3 weeks) �Class room and field visit clubbed together i. e. after 2 week of class room study 1 week field visit is planned. �Field visit to other states (managed by Training institutes) �Institutes library and other academics facilities are freely available for trainees during this period
