v Student performances can be defined as targeted tasks that lead to a product or overall learning.
v Products – includes a wide range of student works that target specific skills.
v Target tasks can also include behavior expectations targeting complex tasks.
v RUBRICS - One way that teachers can evaluate student performances in any given task as it relates to a final product or learning outcome.
Product-Oriented Learning Competencies target at least three levels; q q q Novice / Beginner’s level Skilled level Expert level
Novice / Beginner’s level ü Does the finished product illustrate the minimum expected parts or functions?
Example: The product desired is a scrapbook illustrating the historical event called EDSA 1 People Power Learning Competencies: presented by the students must: The scrapbook 1. Contain pictures, newspaper clippings and other illustrations for the main characters of EDSA 1 People Power namely: Corazon Aquino, Fidel V. Ramos, Juan Ponce Enrile, Ferdinand E. Marcos, Cardinal Sin. (Beginner)
Skilled level ü Does the finished product contain additional parts & functions on top of the minimum requirements which tend to enhance the final output?
2. Contain remarks and captions for the illustrations made by the roles played by the characters of EDSA 1 People Power. (Skilled)
Expert level ü Does the finished product contain the basic minimum parts & functions, have additional features on top of the minimum, and is aesthetically pleasing?
3. Be presentable, complete, informative and pleasing to the reader for the scrapbook. (Expert)
Example: The desired output consists of the output in typing class. Learning Competencies: The final typing of the students must: 1. Possess no more than five (5) errors in spelling. (Beginner) 2. Possess no more than 5 errors in spelling while observing proper format based on the document to be typewritten. (Skilled) 3. Possess no more than 5 errors in spelling, has the proper format, and is readable and presentable. (Expert)
