Development During this stage the producer selects a story and creates a theme. The producers then split up the story into sections where dramatic concise events can take place. Next the screenwriter writes a screenplay and the film distributer is contacted to assess how likely the film is to sell. The producer and screenwriter then prepare a pitch to present to potential financiers and if it is successful it receives a ‘green light’ to let the process go on to preproduction. Pre- production Production storyboard is created and a production budget is drawn up. A crew is hired for the process and a production manager manages the budget and schedule. The assistant director creates a shooting schedule. The casting director finds actors to fill the script and the location manager finds and manages the locations used for filming. The sound is created for the music and sound effects and the costume designer designs clothing for the actors. Storyboard artist creates visual images of what it is going to look like to help the director and production designer to work together. Production In production the film is created and filmed. Crew are all recruited in this stage such as assistant directors, photographer and script supervisors. The assistant director makes sure that all the cast and crew are aware of when the filming is happening. Several takes are recorded for each of the scenes depending on how well the camera operator and assistant director thinks it looked. The director then makes everyone aware of the schedule of filming for the next day. Post- production This is the film making stage where the video process happens. Motion pictures, audio recordings, advertising, photography and digital art all take place in this stage. Visual effects and sound effects are all added to enhance the interest in the film. During the editing of the film, colour correcting and additional sound and visual effects are added which usually take longer than the actual filming of the project.
